3 Things You MUST Have Before You Start Blogging

by Anil Agarwal

This is BizOppers

The title of the post might have forced you to think- “not again. No more posts on this topic” or “ya, I know. Good niche, right blogging platform, passion, good theme, knowledge” or “blah, blah, blah”. But wait guys, this post is not about all that. I always try to think in a different way when it comes to blogging and this is one of those posts. So, here are 3 things you must have, I repeat, you MUST have before you even think of starting a blog.

1. Internet access at home- I can bet that 99% of you guys did not thought that I will be talking about this. After all, who pays much heed to where do you have the connection. Whether it is your home, office, cafe or school. But I think that 24 hour internet at home is the most basic requirement to start a blog. You cannot do serious blogging sitting in your office or cyber cafe. The only reason for this is that at cafe or office, you won’t be able to concentrate completely due to many other disturbances. And blogging requires lot of sincerity on your part. So, the first step is to ensure 24 hours uninterrupted internet access at home.

2. Daily 2- 3 hours of dedicated time- Blogging requires a cool and devoted head and for this, you need to ensure that you give enough time to blogging. This may demand sacrifices of some of your daily routine like spending time with family and friends and your favourite TV show but you just cannot think of becoming a successful blogger without this much time. And make sure that you give this much time in single sitting. Taking out 2 hours in one slot is much better than 3 hours of 6 slots.

3. Patience- Probably the most important, but less discussed. You can yourself confirm it by seeing that in my list, it is at the last. Anyone who blogs is obviously looking for some positive results but even if they do not come at expected pace, do not lose heart. Keep working sincerely with patience and you will start reaching your goals.

In the end, I admit that selecting niche and blogging platform are very important but they are the next steps. If you have all the sources and money to start a blog but do not have one of the above things, you should think again. And I will like to clear here that it is not to discourage you but to just tell you few practical things,

If you have time and devotion, then everthing will come to you. But for students, time really matters …… (lack of family support too …)

Having 2-3 hours of time dedicated only to blogging is inevitable. Automatically your social life and leisure time will suffer, but these sacrifices are worth it to be successful online.

Patience is what needed. most people want results. few will get in months and few will in years. depends how you work and how fast you wants to happen. If you want things to happen pretty soon then do work like crazy and don’t listen to anyone. Later you will know what is wrong and right in blogging world.

I think patience is what the most of people don’t have. Many people think that making money online is easy and quick and most of them fail because of losing patience to see the results.

Very true.. Many blogs are inactive in blogosphere only because of loosing their patience and less confidence on themselves.

Getting mobile internet was the best thing I ever did for my blogging pratice as it’s less stressful. I was always visting the cafe 4 times a week and most times the speed was excruciatingly slow as there were always many folks at the cafe. All that is in the past now ;-)
