Do you remember how much fun blogging was when you first started? It was an adventure.
You got to share your feelings, opinions, and experiences with the world. You got to meet
people, you got to learn a lot about yourself, about and about code. If you’re not careful, all
that fun will get lost as you develop SEO, affiliate marketing, ad words, and backlinks. You
can get so obsessed with generating revenue that you forget the enjoyment you experienced
before it became such a chore. To help you keep the sparkle in your blogging career,
here are nine tips to keep blogging fun.
Challenges and contests:
Inject some fun and competitiveness into your blog by challenging yourself and/or your
readers to write the best to a topic, take the most creative photograph, or create the best
drawing. The electricity will reinvigorate your blog and keep people coming back to see
who is going to win. Write what you want:
With all the concern about SEO, social marketing, and traffic, the temptation is to change
your style to develop metrics that do not include your writing. Why change and risk
alienating your base? Besides, being yourself lets you enjoy yourself and have fun.
It’s hard to put a price tag on that. Highlight current events:
Remember how much fun it was in grade school when you had to clip an article and tell
the class about it? Why not get a taste of that experience back in your life. Find a news
article or current event that interests you and tell the world what you think about it. Be unpredictable:
Visitors to your blog expect the same old stuff, day in and day out. Make things different
by occasionally throwing in something completely off the wall. You could use a video
blooper, a radical opinion, a bizarre news item, or satire to keep people on their toes.
After you do it once, they’ll always be wondering if you will do it again. Surveys:
Add some interaction with your users by asking them questions about relevant (or irrelevant)
topics. You can even use surveys to learn more about your audience and you can adjust your
content to be more useful to them. Invite guests:
Liven up your blog by getting some other people involved. A guest blogger can add value to
your blog as well as a different perspective on some of your topics. Share the limelight and
see your audience light up with a new face. Blog together:
Blogging doesn’t have to be a competitive sport. Just like most things in life, blogging can
be more fun if you share the experience with a friend rather than doing it by yourself all the time.
Share your experiences and spend your time doing what you love together. Promote interaction:
Some blogs just don’t seem very personal and give visitors the feeling that you don’t care if they
stay or if they go. Invite your users to respond and encourage the topic of your posts to continue in the post’s comment section. Evaluate everything you’re doing:
Rather than becoming a mindless blogger parroting the latest keywords and trends, find out
what you really would like to get out of our blog and pursue it. Don’t be afraid to change course and get back to your blogging roots. These are just a few ideas that you can use that can help keep blogging fun. Try them out, think of your own ways and then share them with others.
