An Easy Way to Avoid Hackers

by Anil Agarwal

This is BizOppers

Few days, I wrote about how one of my blog was hacked and how I rescued it back. Well, it was a bit scary when I saw my blog hacked but a bit of awareness got it back for me. Today, I am telling you how you can avoid hacking of your blog without the knowledge of the security aspects in deep.

Hacking has been one of the major concerns for the bloggers and it always fears them. The too much rise of hackers in the last decade has just worsened the scenario. No matter how assured you are about your blog’s security, hackers always get the better of you. I have found a small trick to tighten the screws over hackers. I do not know how effective it is but it is worth a try.

You do not have to dive in the technology to use this. Just follow the given steps and it will be done.

1. Log on to your blog’s cpanel.

2. Click on File Manager under the Files section

3. Select the option Web Root (public_html/www) and you will enter your File Manager area.

4. On the screen that appear, see the first three folders that are wp-admin, wp-content and wp-includes.

5. Right click the first folder, click Change Permissions and do the following configuration.

6. That’s it. Do this configuration for the other two WordPress folders.

7. Remember you do this when you are logging out of WordPress. When you are logging again, first log in to your cpanel, change the permissions to 755 and you will be done. Login to WP dashboard, manage your blog and change the permissions again

As I said before, it is a small trick but it might prove useful. Do this every time you log on and log off and you can keep hackers at bay. After all, the security of their blog is the first thing for the bloggers all around the world.

Hmm… sounds easy like hell. I am no security expert, but if it were this easy to secure a site , I think we wont be seeing so many hackers around! Can the more enlightened ones throw some light on this ??
