If you are a blogger, you are not just writing in a vacuum. There are other bloggers out there who are also trying to get their voice out there, and you are part of a community of people who want to share their viewpoint and get recognized as someone who can become a trusted source. What does it mean to be a part of that community, and how does it benefit you?
Networking Is A Good Thing
Fellow bloggers can be a great source of information and tips for your own personal growth. If you interact with other bloggers out there, especially those who blog about the same things you do, it can make your own work more powerful. There will be opportunities to guest post on other blogs, share links and quotes from other blogs and hopefully your fellow writers will open doors for your professionally.
Most Bloggers Are In The Same Boat
Most writers aren’t doing it to get rich. They are most likely using their blog as an opportunity to get their voice heard and hope to get noticed by someone who might get them a job somewhere. As a blogger, you have the chance to to encourage, support and help your fellow writer get ahead. Link to a great blog post your just read, or leave an encouraging comment on that great post. You never know when you might need a pick me up, or when someone returning your link favor could get you a great opportunity somewhere.
Community Can Be Powerful
Building up a community of other bloggers who follow your work can give your work meaning. Maybe you write about something that is obscure, like a rare disease, or some other issue that is important to you, but maybe not to others. You never know when a fellow writer might see your post and be able to give you more information, or perhaps that person went through a similar experience as to what you are writing about. Now your work has moved somebody and you feel really good about being a writer.
If you are a blogger, you should open yourself up to others in your community. Networking is the way you get yourself noticed and get your work out there to a larger audience. You shouldn’t be afraid to communicate with others because you are one of many people who are taking that brave step of putting your voice out there for others to hear. Once you make those connections, you have the ability to move people on a personal level even if you don’t have the largest of followings.
