A lot of people love writing but don’t know how to get paid to do it. I love writing too and I’ve been a blogger for years; I’ve also worked in online marketing for even longer, so I know a thing or two about making money with your pen. That’s why I am sharing a few ways, other than affiliate programs and pay per click ads, that you can use to monetize your blog and make money blogging:
Pay per post
A better way of people paying you to put things on your blog is to let them pay to post, or pay you to write a post and put it on your blog. Companies will frequently want to do this if your blog is read by a highly targetable audience that’s likely to convert after reading your post. Sometimes, they’ll even throw in a commission on top of the flat fee to run their post. I personally do not do paid posts but if you do, make sure to only accept posts that are a) relevant to your audience and b) don’t reduce the value of your site. That means no spam posts, no articles written purely as SEO exercises.
Selling links
Alternatively, you can get paid to post backlinks in existing articles. This makes sure your blog doesn’t become a spam receptacle (especially if you only accept non-commercial links) but you can still earn extra dough with your blog. Like everything else, make sure the links are relevant to the articles and to your niche. Also, be careful about publicizing whether you sell links or not since Google frowns on link-buying and will delist your site from its results if it thinks out that you sell links, which it can do automatically if you develop too many random links.
Getting paid to post
Just like how companies will pay you to let them post on your own blog, they’ll also pay you to write on other people’s blogs. Usually, they’ll pay you for a certain amount of posts on sites related to a certain niche. You’ll write the articles and get them published yourself, so you’ll need to find a lot of high-quality blogs with lots of readers and get in touch with the blog owners. Build up a relationship and then pitch the possibility of giving them a guest post. Do this before you write the post, since a lot will not reply and you’ll waste time writing articles that won’t get posted. If they accept, tailor an article to their site and send it! It’s fine if you’re not a great writer but you need to be good at interpersonal skills and know how to make a good pitch.
In-text ads
INTENTclick and other in-text monetization companies offer an in-text advertising solution for websites about making money online and saving money. In-text ads are small pop-ups that are automatically inserted into words when you hover your mouse over them. This allows you to monetize space that people usually don’t even think to monetize: The text itself. By using INTENTclick or another in-text service, you utilize a non-intrusive way to make money that doesn’t get in the way of your content or hurt your SEO, unlike many other advertising methods.
Keep looking into ways to make money blogging
Even though this article goes beyond the basic methods of affiliate marketing and pay per click ads, there’s still a lot more that you can learn to turn your blog into a cash cow. You should definitely use the Internet to find more articles, but if you really want to get serious about making money blogging then you should read a few books on it. I try an dip into everything so that all my eggs aren’t in the same basket, I use CPA offers, Adsense, Paid Links and Banners, Paid Content, Etc…
The important thing to remember is that making money online won’t happen unless you are prepared to put in the time and effort, don’t believe people who say it takes an hour a week because it doesn’t.
Personally I have found that writing sponsored posts has been a HUGE money maker for me, I use about 20 networks so I don’t have to rely on just one.
