Interview: Puneet Jain of MobiGyaan

I promised few days back that I will be starting an interview series at BloggersPassion. This is the first interview in the series. Puneet Jain of MobiGyaan has taken time to answer the questions. Here is the interview-

1. Tell us about yourself, location & background.

I am a 22 year old guy from Vadodara, trying to manage my studies and MobiGyaan.

1. When do you start blogging? What was the reason behind it? And what is your current status as a blogger?

I started blogging in December 2008.

In December 2008 I visited Chennai, I could not move out of my cousin’s for sightseeing because of heavy rains. I had nothing to do except to sit at home. I was getting bored and the idea to start a blog struck my mind, I was and am very much interested in happenings of telecom industry and so to kill my boredom I came up with MobiGyaan.  Initially I used a free domain but in January 2009 I shifted to a .com domain.

I am still a Part-time blogger.

1. Blogging is your PASSION, HOBBY or MONEY?

As I mentioned earlier I am very much interested in happenings of Telecom Industry, so according to me my Hobby turned into Passion.

1. What is your blog about and the target audience?

Everybody who uses mobile phones is the target audience of MobiGyaan

1. Current statistics of your blog?

MobiGyaan manages to get around 45000-50000 visitors a month.

1. Your blogging objectives for next one year?

During the next one year I am pretty much busy with my studies so I do not have some huge objectives except one i.e. to increase traffic on MobiGyaan by 3 folds.

1. Who inspired you to blogging? Any idols in this field?

The first answer which came to my mind after reading this question was “boredom”. But on a serious thought I seriously do not know. In this field I do not have any idols.

1. Who are your favourite bloggers? Anyone you read very regularly?

I love reading Darren Rowse. Other people whom I read at least twice a week are Harsh Agarwal, You (Tushar), Amit Agarwal (lots of Agarwals ) and Sanjeev Mishra.

1. Apart from blogging, your interests are?

Apart from blogging, my interests are listening music, playing games on PC and watching F1 races.

1. Your favourite movies & songs

There are many movies which I like. The list is very long so I am just naming few of them – Chhoti is baat, Sarfarosh, 3 Idiots, Hackers, Armageddon, The Fast and the Furious and many others. As far as favourite songs are considered I love to listen songs of Aatif Aslam and A.R. Rahman

1. If only you could change one thing in this world?

I would like to eradicate poverty.

1. Is there somebody you will die to meet?

There is no such person. But I will like to meet Michael Schumacher.

1. Your message to the upcoming bloggers?

If you are passionate about what you blog about then you will get success – This is what most bloggers say. But I will like to add one more aspect to this – Passion is very important aspect to achieve success but you need to write about the topics which people want to read.

1. Memorable achievement/ feat since you started blogging?

Number of visitors grew by over 10000% in last one year.

1. Your dream destination in this world?

Italy (I would like to roam in streets of Rome)

1. What are your future plans apart from blogging?

Dont know. Want to live and enjoy the present.

1. Any suggestions for the BloggersPassion?

You are one of the bloggers whom I read regularly so I request you to blog regularly.
