When they first entered the scene around a decade back, blogs were defined as YOUR SPACE ON THE WEB. To be little more specific, the developers promoted them as the space for your online diary which you can share with others.
I am not going in any more details about the history of blogs as they are in abundance in the blogosphere. In this article, I just want you to concentrate on the words highlighted above and pay attention to the word YOUR in there.
As mentioned, a blog is “your” space on the internet. If you take it literally, this means that as it is your space, you can do and should do anything you want. You have bought this space to share your thoughts and not just to agree with those who have already proven themselves.
But, these days, “your” space has become “somebody’s” else. I am not pointing to a particular person or blogger but this trend could be seen.
A new blogger is finding it difficult to make a blogging schedule for him as he is yet to come with terms of the challenges that blogging poses. As a routine, he visits some of his favorite blogs. In one of those, a blogger (whom he adores) has written a post about perfect writing schedule. The new blogger take his words as sacrosanct and decide to start doing it.
Well, there is no such harm in it but you have to make sure that you can do what your inspirer has told you. We should make our inspirers our mentors rather than becoming their blind followers. Just following the same schedule or using the same theme that he is using would not guarantee you the same success. He is doing so because it suits him but it is you who will decide whether it will bring the same results for you.
I am not different from others and I also have many bloggers whom I really like and take my encouragement and motivation from there. But before doing what they practice, I see and compare things in my perspective and if I find it suiting to my schedule and needs, I do that.
It is just my take on the topic and I am damn sure that the views will vastly differ on this aspect from different bloggers. I would love to hear and discuss with you the various things that you have experienced and share with the blogging community.
P.S.- I am expecting some groans too.
