Its Time to Use Local Advertising

Have you ever heard of something about the concept of local advertising? Many of you might not have heard it. I got to know about it from a friend of mine who works in insurance sector few days ago and it sounded a very powerful and efficient way to get good exposure to your blog.

Local advertising is nothing complicated and confusing. I found it one of the easiest methods of advertising that is pretty cheaper than the traditional advertising spots. And the most important thing, this advertising is not done in the blogosphere or any other electronic / print media but in your neighbourhood.

What you have to do exactly?

As I have already said before, local advertising is not at all complicated and no technical things are involved here. Just follow the below steps to advertise your blog locally.

  1. Prepare advertisement- Sit down some day (free time) and think about the possible ad that you will be making. Use your computer or do it manually but stick to an A4 size paper. Highlight everything about your blog in that to make it a perfect ad. Something that people are curious to visit as soon as they read it.
  2. Identify places- The best places where you can put your ads is those where people come in good numbers. You can target teens or kids according to your blog niche but make sure you choose happening places. Your best options are cyber cafe, gym and pizza and fast food joints. Ask the place owner for his permission. I do not think he will mind pasting a piece of paper.
  3. Get the copies- 100 copies should be more than enough initially. After you are sure about the content and design of the ad, get the copies and stick them in various places which you have selected.
  4. Wait for the traffic- Surely, traffic will come. I do not promise it would be very huge but you can expect average traffic per day. A lot of it depends on the location of ad, your blog niche and the mouth of word used by the ad readers.

That is it. Simple enough but one thing that you need to keep in mind with this advertising is that you would not get totally targeted traffic and this may lead to increase in bounce rate. It is your content that will ultimately get them back.

I think local advertising is brilliant if you offer a product or service locally, or even if you offer a product or service to sell. My wife runs many local blogs that are very Arizona specific and advertising locally pays off, I myself have few local specific content so it doesn’t benefit me as well for some of my blogs.

very right justin but you never know that a neighbour of yours is looking for a blog in this niche and is not aware of you…….
so local advertising may help there

Hmm local advertising is old school but effective enough provided that the ad is worth paying a glance that being said, placing it un-appropriate places will only lead to disasters.
