There is a misconception among social media enthusiasts that Press Release is almost ancient and has lost its relevance. However, it would be wrong to undermine the appeal and reach of an effective press release as opposed to other modes of online communications. A carefully composed press release can also be converted into other forms of online communication like webinars and podcasts without much difficulty. However, making a powerful press release is not everyone’s cup of tea. If you want to report an incident, promote a cause or narrate a story through Press Release and aid your site’s SEO, you need to proceed cautiously.
There are some mistakes online marketers often make when drafting press release and this may prove to be counterproductive from SEO perspective. You should ensure that your press release is devoid of these awful errors.
Headline lacking the punch: You must have heard the proverb that first impression is often the last impression. This holds true for a press release too. Without a headline that contains punch and sounds really attractive, chances are that a lot of web users will give your press release a miss. Coming up with an attractive headline for a press release can be tedious in some cases. However, the trouble is worth the outcome in this case. I have personally come with some killer headlines for two press releases on prweb and gneil for my discount coupon blog and they got positive feedbacks from viewers in general.
Jargons repel people faster than you think: Some marketers tend to overlook this vital aspect when framing a press release. If you join their bandwagon, your press releases will inevitably bite the dust. You should remember that as a marketer you will want your press release to reach out to maximum possible target readers. Using jargons prove to be counterproductive. This is also true for press releases aimed at a niche audience including technology.
No Proofreading? You must be kidding: People who read press releases expect them to be professional and grammatical mistakes are not taken in a good sense. This hampers the credibility of a press release. So what if you are tired of framing a meticulously written press release that has taken up a few hours from your busy schedule? You may feel like uploading it in a hurry, thinking everything looks right but doing so would make you regret later. Take a break and return to the article later for a thorough checking for sentence formation, coherence and grammar issues. If you feel tired doing the proofreading, remind yourself that you do not want readers to perceive it as a piece of amateurish writing.
Content lacking the peppiness: You have written a captivating and interesting press release and want to upload it, thinking that everything is in place. Wait a moment before pressing the mouse, is anything amiss? Just think, do you like reading a web page that has good content but nothing else. Will not it look quite dull and uninteresting if there is absolutely no image, video or interactive material? It surely would. Now, the same can be said of your carefully composed press release. To captivate readers, use videos, relevant pictures and links in your press release.

I agree with your post, in press releases, they are expected to be free from grammatical errors as they tend to distract readers and even potential customers. Also, the press release must be as truthful as possible and not overly exaggerated.
