Find a “Blog Buddy” for Yourself and Your Blog
Recently, I was going through the e-book 31 Days to Be a Better Blogger by Darren Rowse. I won this book recently at a give away at Mextena, a blogging blog being administered by my good friend, Jijo Sunny. All I could say after reading this book is that it’s awesome. Darren has asked the readers to read the book day by day in 31 days and complete the task in hand. But I was so curious that I finished it in one week. Although, I skipped some tasks in between, I will complete them in coming days.
What is Blog Buddy?
In his Day 15 chapter, Darren has mentioned about Blog Buddy. In simple language, Blog Buddy is some other blogger in the blogosphere whom you can tie up with. This tie up can get you benefits which I will discuss further in this post.
Who should be your Blog Buddy?
Ideally, you should choose a blog buddy that is around your level on the web. By the same level, I mean is
1. Equally old in the blogosphere.
2. Same Alexa rank
3. Same visits and page views per day
4. Looking for a Blog Buddy too
Thinking that some established blogger will be your buddy might be too optimistic. This is because he is not in the need of traffic and visits as much you are and the first thought that will be flashed in his mind will be that you are trying to take advantage of their popularity. So, select a blogger based on the above parameters and start your work.
Benefits of a Blog Buddy
This is what you can expect to have from your Blog Buddy
- Traffic- The main aim of a Blog Buddy is traffic and you can expect some through this venture. Around 5-10 visitors per day wont be too much to expect.
- Back links- You can spread some link love which will help you get back links that will help you in SEO and Page Rank.
- Critic- He can assist you by reviewing your posts before you publish them and give suggestions. Work on the line that TWO HEADS ARE BETTER THAN ONE and help each other.
- Friendship- Apart from just blogging, you can be friends and keeping aside blog issues for a moment, you can share your personal life and ramblings which will help you maintain long term relationship, both professionally and personally.

A blogging buddy is a fantastic idea!
It’s kind of like a mentor but your equal peer. You can both be honest with one another and help each other build toward success. Cross linking and guest posting on each others blogs will help send traffic between the blogs and even have people recognize what an awesome duo you two can become.

Loving the blog buddy concept. Only problem is that those I can be buddies with are all using nofollow on their blogs and are getting a lot more traffic than I am. I’ll still reach out to them and see what happens

Wow! Good move buddy. Once I and Peter decided to build a Young Blogger community.. we failed to do that coz of some problems. However, He is extremely superb in his work. Hope you guys are gonna make a good blogosphere around here.
