The rate at which Yahoo keeps going down every year is stunning, and a lot of people will be amazed at how quickly it went from being the top website in the world to being the fourth website in the world. A lot of us know Yahoo for so many things, ranging from its online portal to its search engine.
If you’re a blogger familiar with SEO there is every probability the most of your effort is being focused on optimizing your website for Google. The question now is should bloggers care about optimizing their blogs for Yahoo?
I recently made some changes to my westhost coupon blog, most of which made me realize how important every additional source of traffic can be, and in this article I will be sharing with you some of the top reasons why bloggers should care about Yahoo SEO.
Importance of Not Putting All Your Eggs in One Basket
If you’ve been studying how SEO works and have been reading SEO blogs for anything more than a month now you would have read at least one case study on how a blogger lost his entire Google rankings over night. In fact, I know bloggers who get thousands of visitors from Google daily and as a result are very dependent on Google who suddenly lost all their traffic overnight. Most of these bloggers didn’t prepare for it, and some of them even depended entirely on Google for their traffic and income, which eventually ended up biting them seriously.
The worst mistake you can make online is that of letting one body control your traffic and income, and it doesn’t matter if it is Google or any other website it will end up biting you.
By optimizing your blog for Yahoo you will be able to diversify your blog traffic, and as a result prevent your blog from suffering any predicament.
How Yahoo Can Help SEOs
If you’re not convinced yet as to the importance of optimizing your blog for the Yahoo search engine, then you need to be aware about a partnership Yahoo went into with Bing recently. The partnership ensures websites get the same rankings in both Bing and Yahoo search engine. In other words, even if you ignore the existence of Bing completely, as long as you optimize your blog for Yahoo you will also be able to get higher rankings in Bing.
No Traffic Source is a Waste
The final reason why you should care about Yahoo as a blogger is because no traffic source is a waste. It doesn’t matter if that source sends you 10 visitors or 1,000 visitors. A combination of a lot of small traffic sources will end up leading to big traffic.
Yahoo might not send you that much traffic at first, but over time your Yahoo authority and rankings will start to increase and the amount of visitors you get daily will also increase. Over time, that will add up to something significant and you will be glad you made effort to optimize your website for Yahoo.

Although Yahoo may not have a traffic comparable to Google, I agree that it has plenty to offer to your blog/site. After all it’s much safer to target 2 search engines than one, and in the long run it can be very rewarding
I’ve always argued that it’s worth trying to rank well on Yahoo, Bing and other search engines, but I think you should put more effort on Google since you have a lot more potential. Usually you’ll be competing the same websites on the other engines, so a lot will work in your favor no matter which engine you target.
I think Yahoo is def next to Google. They now share the same webmaster tools with Bing – any serious blogger should care.
no never ….
google>yahoo
i think u understand…
Hi John,
I agree that when it comes to your website’s exposure online (for products and/or services), it must not only be put in just one area. I haven’t thought about the possibility that people who depended solely on Google SEO are in trouble if they will continue doing that for their blogs or business websites. Thank you for pointing out the importance of Yahoo SEO.
Good Info guys thankx for sharing now i think i understand that yahoo and google both’s SEO are Important .
I do think people should still care about yahoo. Not everyone uses Google and it isn’t the only engine out there, you should try and stay as well balanced as you can.
