Selecting the right niche for your blog is the most basic step when you start thinking of blogging. Everything else depends in the niche. From the domain name to the design of the blog; if you have selected the right niche, half of the work has already been completed.

But sometimes it happen that you go for a wrong niche because it is more popular or you think that Adsense pays you higher in this niche. It may work for a while but ultimately you will find yourself confused after some time. Let’s look at some ill effects of choosing a bad niche-

  1. Lack of content- With a bad niche, you can write for few months but not for lifetime. A day will come when you will find yourself searching for content because to write regular posts, you must have knowledge of the blog’s field. So, keep in mind the right niche.
  2. Lack of QUALITY content- you can only write good quality posts only if you have knowledge abut that topic. If you have the ability of looking at things differently and can present it to your readers in a different way, you are sure to get success. But that is only possible if you have deep insight about the topic.
  3. Loss of traffic- sooner or later, by your way of writing posts, your readers will come to know that you are not expert in this niche and does not possess enough knowledge. You are just writing to keep the blog alive and this may compel them to look for another blog. This is a great loss as readers are the most priceless asset for any blogger. You cannot afford to lose them. So, be wise.
  4. BAD image- blogosphere works on reputation. Because of geographical limitations, bloggers rarely meet and their only way of communicating is their blog. So, if you have started a blog with wrong niche, people will stop taking you seriously and this may hamper your future prospects. Even if you take more than enough care next time, they will think of you as time pass (BASED ON MY PEROSNAL EXPERIENCE).

This is what a bad niche can do to the blog. Take the utmost care in selecting the blog niche or your decision to start a blog may backfire and all your investment for domain and hosting may go in vain. These are not the only things, I am sure I have missed many things and you are most welcome to comment below.
