What Keeps Simple Bloggers Motivated?

Blogging is surely a tough job in many senses. Considering the fact that you are the lone blogger in the vicinity (in your area or locality), there are lots of distractions that keep coming in the way and longer time it takes to success, you can easily get less and less motivated as the days pass by. It is hard to find inspiration and encouragement when you are getting 5-10 visits even after a month and there is no one by your side to motivate you.

So how does a blogger keeps him going? After all, there are many bloggers who are blogging since many months. Of course, money is the greatest motivator. But what about those bloggers who are not earning huge amounts with their blog? Bloggers like me who still dream to become half as popular as Darren Rowse.

Here are things that help me keeping motivated when it comes to blogging.

  1. Comments on my blog- Undoubtedly, the biggest encouragement for me (or any new blogger). Every blogger, whether new or old, wants comments as they are one of the biggest metric for a blog’s popularity. There have been some really inspiring comments on some of my posts and I feel very delighted to read them.
  2. Mentions in blogosphere- When somebody mention my blog, it is a great feeling. There have been few mentions of this blog at Mextena, Best Blogs Asia, AffiliateGroundz and WeBlogBetter. This tells me that people are reading my blog seriously and thinking about the matter.
  3. Helping out others – When I started my previous blog (which was later hacked), I got a mail from Chetan, asking for help about starting a blog. I told me I am comparatively new and there are many experienced bloggers who can help you better. He said that he found my content good and to the point and relevant to his needs. It was very satisfying to hear that I was actually catering to some other needs and the matter is not useless, it’s relevant.

Let me tell you one more incident. When I started my previous blog, I made a post about inspiration behind that blog. It was DollarShower, one of the best blogs but gets updated only twice a week. Ajith read the post and made a comment on his blog –

“Becoming an inspiration for a blog gives a happier feeling than when he received his first Adsense cheque.”

I very firmly believe in his words and I believe he really meant it. What do you say?

Hi Tushar,

Every blogger wants tons of comments, but in order to receive we must be willing to give. It may take some time, but the comments will come.

It really does make one feel good to be mentioned by a blog with a good following. That motivates me more than any thing.

What do I say?

We must have the passion for our topic. We must not focus on the money, at the beginning, because all that will come. A simple blogger can be motivated by simply focusing on putting great information out here that will help others. In the long haul everyone receives.

Take care and keep blogging!

hmm…. I have seen many bloggers who start their blog to want Google check for 1st month….. and that not possible for a newbie…. Even I have not started good earning yet but I feel very delighted when someone comments on my blog… I don’t get happy when there are 500 visitors and 0 comments…. I will be more happy when I have 50 visitors and atleast 10 comments …..
Nice post Tushar :)

I definitely agree that what makes a simple blogger to feel really motivated are the comments on one’s own article. I think your blog is great, I’ve saved your link on my dofollow blogs list.
