I am very sure that 90% of the bloggers all around will agree with the fact that search engine traffic is must for a blog’s survival. And that is why people lay emphasis on Search Engine Optimization (SEO). SEO is one of the most common practices in blogging and is used by all the bloggers. Those who did not apply it effectively (like me) have a dearth of search engine traffic and this post is for all those bloggers who fail at SEO.
One thing you can easily see in my blog that one reason that I do not get enough traffic from search engine is the lack of potential keywords. I have not tried to make my posts suitable for search engine ever. I just concentrate on writing interesting posts for my readers. So, here are some ways that can help you bring traffic other than from search engines.
1.Comment, comment & comment- There is no other alternative to this practice. Comment on blogs that you like to read. Good comments can help you get good reputation and regular flow of visitors. This requires lot of patience but results you get are awesome. Comments are still the major traffic source for me.
2. Facebook and Twitter- Although I should have put it in #1 place but I think Facebook is the best traffic source around. I read somewhere that an average internet user spends around 20 minutes on Facebook every day as compared to 45 seconds on Google. I am still trying to increase my traffic from Facebook. And the same goes for Twitter which is one of the hottest things on the web these days.
3. Guest Post- Guest posting can fetch you lots and lots of visitors if you choose a blog which is popular like Problogger or John Chow. You might have to wait for 15 days before your post gets published but believe me guys, it will be worth the wait.
4. Forums- Still, one of the best ways to get free traffic for days. It is already tried and tested method and will work every time. The best forum to use is Digital point with thousands of members and lot more visitors.

Traffic matters to the satisfaction of the readers that’s why we should leave the SEO beyond quality contents even they will work the same may be after some time.

Commenting, facebook Sharing and tweeting – This accounts to almost half of the total traffic I get daily. And I think that speaks a lot about the importance of social networking and the way it can boost your blog traffic. Good post.

You are right search engine traffic is must for a blog. There are various other ways to get traffic to your blog. I recently shared an article to submit your articles to 80+ websites to promote your articles. Commenting is another great way to get traffic.

Commenting is working great for me since search engine traffic is a bit low on my blog at the moment. Twitter also works nicely to bring some traffic. I haven’t done any guest post yet.
