What You Should Do in First 3 Months of Your Blogging?

by Anil Agarwal

This is BizOppers

After you have selected the domain and hosting of the blog and ready to write your first post, now the real blogging begins. You have to put all your skills into use to get the maximum returns. The expected results from the blog could only be achieved if you work on a well decided schedule and pattern. I suggest you to follow the following sequence of steps to become a successful blogger.

  1. Work hard, harder and harder- for your blog to survive, the most important thing is traffic. You have to get traffic to your blog anyhow. Either you pay some dollars and advertise or you use the word of mouth to promote your blog, if you would not get traffic, your blog will die very soon. At the same time, you have to work on your content of the blog. Write posts that attract readers and search engines. Wise use of keywords is a must that attracts Google.
  2. Post good content regularly- I have always believed that CONTENT IS KING. And I recommend you to follow this line. Content is the most important aspect of blogging. Through advertising and word of mouth, you can get new visitors to your blog once. And it’s the content of your blog that force them to come back again and visit you. That means you are getting loyal readers. And this is what the ultimate goal of blogging is.
  3. Avoid monetization- for the first 2 months of your blog, avoid Adsense and other PPC campaigns on your blog. Lot of ads on your blog will hint your visitors that you are inclined towards making money more than information sharing. This will leave a bad impression of yours on them and you might loose some of your visitors. You can read more on this here.
  4. Brand your blog- I must say this is one of the most important step, although the most neglected step in blogging. Make your blog a brand. Spread it in comments, forums and wherever you can. Take my example.

It’s not tough to build a successful blog. All you need is to wait for things to happen. Believe me friends, thing will happen and you will reach your goals. And pay special attention to content and branding the blog. These are the two things that will take to you new heights.

Content is the most important thing when it comes to the success of a blog, but branding would have to be a close second. My blog, Biz Success Digest has only been up for 14 days now and I have been using that time to hone my search skills for finding good content.

Just this afternoon I started to add my own personal take on the quotes I post. Hey, this post by Tushar was featured as my 322nd post (in 14 days!) I’ve had to work hard on figuring out a good schedule and routine. I’ve just about got it down pat and will be able to start branding and promotiong.

You know how Seth Godin has branded his blog? Maybe I need to shave my head? No! I’ve got it! I’ll shave my chest!”

i would write 3 quality blog posts a week, one would go on my blog and the rest would go as guest posts on other blogs.

It depends on the niche you are in and how different is your post from post available on search engines.

No way, if you don’t have a lot of followers, your only damaging your blog by posting reguarly. Lol, read my article, 10 reasons why you should not blog daily, it might change your mind. http://bit.ly/aIpVqX

Peter I agree with you, the most important is quality not quantaty. Visitors wanna read interestning posts even if there is only one post a week.

Branding the blog is really important in the first 3 months. Along with posting some quality contents (maybe 2-3 posts per week), making people know that a new blog has come up is very important. Some guest posts in high-traffic blogs would be an excellent thing (only if the post qualifies).
Well, at the moment, my new blog is not even 1 month old…so I am going through this phase at the moment.

Hey Tushar,

Nice advice you have there, the first 3 months are the biggest steps in your blog’s life. Well at least that’s what I believe.
I find it really hard, updating it every single day is important at first, but you also need to quest post. In my opinion for the first month at least 5 posts on your blog and 1-2 quest posts per week is enough for a start.
Well we shouldn’t forget about forums and other blogs, commenting is important too.
