Read the three different posts titles given below-
- The Effects of Blogging in a Student’s Life
- Advantages of Blogging for Students
- 5 Reasons Why Blogging is Best Business for Students

If you read the above three post title, which one are you most likely to visit first? They all convey the same meaning but I think 90% of the people will click the last title first. Reason- this title is more specific than the other two. The first one simply tells you about the effects and it’s not mentioned that whether these are good or bad effects. It’s too ambiguous and will mislead the readers. The second one tells that we are talking about the positives but it’s not specific. So, 3rd one is the natural choice and here comes the importance of using the numbers in your blog posts title.
- Reader like your posts- it’s a well known fact that we all love reading something that is written in points. The number in the post title will tell them that what they will be reading will be in points and they will get specific content and not ambiguous details. After all, you are writing everything in your blog for the readers and you have to keep in mind their convenience in every aspect of the blog. I had also explained the importance of good navigation in my previous post.
- Your posts become specific- writing in a numbered way; it makes it very easy for you to have a clear idea about what you will be writing. So, you do not need to get confused. You have a clear cut idea of the content of the post and this will help you. Writing with a confused mind will never result in a good post and until and unless, you will not have your mind clear that what will be the content, it will be very difficult to write. But if you have decided that you will include a number in post title and write according to that, a good post will be a guaranteed result.
In The End
I will again emphasize on the importance of using numbers in your post title to get a good traffic for the blog posts. And do not forget to participate in the poll below.

Yes, using numbers is post titles is important. Audience like 5 or 10 in post titles.
Hi, I think there is a spelling mistake in the post title .. there shud be “in” after “Why Using Numbers” instead of “is” … what do u say ?

point taken and corrected too
There are better called list posts. Top 5 this, top 5 that. They tend to attract attention faster than any other headlines
Yaa I am totally agree with you, I have design related blog most of my article titles starts with number like list. And I experienced that people like to scan article only by looking title at first time, so its better strategy to use this method.

this could also be considered a good way to reduce bounce rate dude
Hmm. I had made some list posts like this, but hadn’t got any idea about using numbers in it. I had used numbers in some and not in some. I liked all your three points.
Btw, only use numbers like ‘Top 10…” or the “25 best …”. Don’t use them simply like “10 ..”, which makes a great difference
People like simple answers. The promise that you can solve their problem in just 5 easy steps is too tempting to pass up. Blog posts with numbers in the title get more traffic. Look at top social media information sites like: Copyblogger and ProBlogger and you will see titles that look like this: 5 Suggestions for…, 3 Ways to…, 7 Quick tips.. The problem? I don’t often write linear posts.. If there are no lists, it is hard to have a numbered title. I won’t sacrifice a good title just to add a number. I simply use this tactic when it makes sense.
Numbered steps in articles, mainly guides, is a really nice way to attract a reader.
I see that my “10 things for that.” or “5 ways to.” articles have always a lowew bounce rate from other ones that simply lack this kind of title.
I cannot forget one of my first ever articles, that had a title of “10 ways to build a free website” and actually mentioned 7… It was hilarious and I personally had no way to correct it immediately as I had submitted it by mail (the old kind of mail. )
