How Can I Quickly Grow My Blog Traffic Using SEMrush?
Ask anyone who is blogging for a while and they will tell you “website traffic is the currency online”.
There are many ways to increase traffic to your blogs.
However, most of them will take a lot time and efforts.
If you don’t have so much time, then you will mostly try one or two quick traffic generation strategies and you’ll more likely to give up if they don’t get you good results.
Then what’s the BEST thing you can do?
Let me tell you. Either hire an SEO expert or get access to a right SEO tool.
We all know hiring an SEO expert costs you typically $5000 to $100,000 or even more. Neil Patel usually charges $100,000 and even more for his SEO consulting services. Unless you already have a huge money flowing through your sites or a BIG budget, you can’t afford them, right?
That leaves you with the only option i.e to use the RIGHT SEO tool.

4 proven ways to bring massive traffic to Your Blog from Google using SEMrush
1. Here’s the reason why 99% of the blogs fail to get more traffic
Did you know why majority of the blogs don’t get the search traffic they deserve?
It’s because of their website issues.
Not the common website issues like usability, using pages instead of posts but the major SEO issues like crawlability issues, lengthy title tags or meta description issues etc.
If you are wondering why you are not getting more traffic from Google even after creating great content, then the reason could be that your site has some issues.
Then, how can you find and fix your website issues?
Once you logged into your SEMrush account, add your site into it. Now, when you click on the Site Audit feature, it will show you all the errors and warnings that your site currently have.
Have a look at the following screenshot of BloggersPassion to have a better idea about the Site Audit feature from SEMrush.
Have you seen that?
SEMrush not only regularly crawls your entire site to check if it has any issues or not. By simply working on fixing your issues you can bring more search visibility.
Now, when I click on those errors, it tells me which are the affected pages so I can start working on them to fix my site issues. Have a look at the below screenshot.
Not only that, you can also find all the warnings your site may have (although you can neglect the warnings but you must fix all the “errors” that your site has).
2. Tired of doing keyword research?
Without a doubt, keyword research is the reason why most blogs get a lot of search traffic.
If you are struggling to get more Google traffic to your sites, it might be mainly because you are not doing keyword research at all.
Finding great keywords is NOT a joke. It takes a lot of time and efforts.
Even then, you can’t predict the right keywords that can help you bring more traffic.
So what’s the solution to come up with great keyword ideas?
SEMrush should be your option.
SEMrush will help you with the following things while doing keyword research:
- Find the right keywords for improving SEO
- Find out phrase matches and related keywords
- Get long tail keywords effortlessly
- Explore multinational and multilingual environments
Now, let’s explore the details of how you can use SEMrush to actually do keyword research.
Step 1: Enter any keyword of your choice to know whether it is right for increasing your traffic or not. As a rule of thumb, don’t pick keywords with search volume of more than 2000 as they need a lot of links and efforts.
So you need to pick keywords between 500 to 1500 monthly search volume so you can quickly rank higher in Google. In the example shown below, I entered “increase website traffic” as my primary keyword (which has a monthly volume of 590 searches which is a good keyword!).
Step 2: Also find phrase match and related keywords to your primary keyword.
In the above screenshot you will also see the phrase match keywords (that match with your primary keyword) and related keywords which are relevant to your targeted keyword.
You can consider using them too by analyzing their search volume. Also make sure to use relevant keywords while creating content to rank better in search results for your targeted keyword.
Step 3: Analyze the competitors who are already ranking well in Google
Now the final step is to find the top ranking pages for your targeted keywords. You need to know the top pages for your keywords if you want to rank in first pages results.
Only by analyzing the top page search results, you can understand what strategies to use to grow your search rankings. Without knowing the strategies that are being used by your competitors to get links and first page results, you will spend a lot of time and money.
So how to analyze your competitors who are already ranking in first page results on Google?
Let’s discuss about it now.
A quick note: Here’s a detailed guide on using SEMrush for finding better keywords.
3. Analyzing your competitors is EFFORTLESS
In the above step, we were using “increase website traffic” as an example keyword. For the same keyword, here’s the competition analysis.
Did you see that? Not only you are getting top search results for the keyword “increase website traffic” but you are also able to see the ads targeting that keyword.
Likewise, you can analyze your competition for ANY keyword that you are trying to rank for. You can also find out if there are any people or companies that are trying to rank for that keywords by using ads.
Not only that.. Here’s more!
Now, by clicking on any one of the top page search results for your targeted keyword, you will get access to more information.
See the screenshot.
When I click on the first search result, here’s the information I got (which can be highly helpful for me in understanding how it’s ranking #1 in the first place).
The above screenshot reveals that the targeted keyword is sending the first search result a total over 2100 monthly search visits. It also got 60 links pointing to its page. By knowing these details, you can figure out how many links you actually need to get first rank result to the primary keyword you want to target.
4. SEO ideas: the rocking new feature
One of the incredible features of SEMrush is its SEO ideas feature which gives you relevant ideas to boost your current rankings of your top pages.
Finding better keywords and ranking in the first page for those keywords is NOT enough. You need to get #1 results for those keywords and you also need to sustain those keywords for a long term to really reap the rewards from Google.
How can you do that? SEMrush helps you through a feature called “SEO ideas”. It suggests you what you can do to improve your top posts or pages.
Have a look at the below image to know more.
It will also give you a list of all the top pages you can optimize to grow your overall site traffic. You can simply click on all the ideas it gives you to bring more search engine traffic to your blog posts or pages.
Now when I click on one of the posts ideas, it gives me a clear idea about where I can improve.
Not only that, but it also gives me a link building strategy from where I can acquire more quality links really quickly. Check it out from the below image.
So there you go! Once you click on “See detailed analysis”, you will have a list of huge link building opportunities that you can use to grow your incoming links to your top pages.
All in all, this SEO ideas feature alone is worth a million dollars. No exaggeration indeed!
