Keyword optimization made easy

The #1 reason people use Yoast SEO plugin is because of its ability to help you easily optimize your content for your primary keyword. It doesn’t matter what keywords you are targeting within your blog’s content, Yoast SEO helps you easily optimize your content.

It helps you with keyword optimization by providing you a “focus keyword”.

A focus keyword is the “primary keyword” that you want to rank for in search engines like Google. For example, if you want to rank for “Yoast SEO plugin”, it becomes the primary “focus keyword” in Yoast SEO plugin.

Here’s how it looks like;

As you can see from the above image, Yoast SEO provides you its own input field for perfect keyword optimization. The Yoast SEO plugin evaluates the page’s content you want to rank for and provides you instant suggestions on how to improve the content for that focus keyword.

These suggestions include 3 primary colors;

  • Green (means your content is perfectly optimized)
  • Orange (your content is partially optimized and needs more improvements)
  • Red (not optimized at all and you should take care of it such as no alt tag, missing internal links, short form of content below 300 words and more)

Important thing to remember

Here’s the most important thing you need to remember while picking a focus keyword to optimize your content for improved search rankings.

Don’t pick a focus keyword just for the sake of it. Instead pick a long tail keyword which has low competition.

For instance, if you’re targeting to rank for a fitness related keyword, pick a long tail keyword such as “fitness apps for beginners” instead of picking “fitness apps”. That way you’ll be able to optimize your content for a long tail keyword so you can get faster rankings in the search results.

    Hi Anil,
I have been using WordPress seo by yoast since i started my blog.
It really improves the seo experience.

  2. Daniel says:

You stated: “I’m saying all this because WordPress SEO by Yoast Plugin covers most of the features, you will get after installing above 8 SEO plugins. Please correct me if I’m wrong.”
Why would I want just ‘most’ of the features when I can get ‘ALL’ of the features by using all of those plugins.
Nice sales job you are trying to do, but as of this morning the WP plugin page for this plugin is showing 8 people indicating that the plugin works and 11 indicating that it is broken.
I think I’ll stay with the other plugins.

    • Anil Agarwal says:

My only intention behind saying it covers 8 plugins is just to improve your blog speed. If you end up installing too many plugins on your blog will just slow down your WordPress blog. So we need to look out for plugins that can solve multiple problems in one. When I tried it on my blog. it was working fine for me.

  3. Dhruv Bhagat says:

I want to discuss one problem with you !!!
When I put keywords in the column – “Focus Keywords”, I never got YES.
    What I mean is –
In the screenshot provided by you, it is shown –
    Article Heading : YES
    Content : YES
    Page URL : YES
    Meta Description : NO
But in my case, I always see “NO” in each category ..
I feel really frustrated seeing this issue in my each and every blog.. HELP ME !!

    • Anil Agarwal says:

      Hi Dhruv

You will have access to Focus keyword and other stuff when you edit or create a new blog post or page from your admin panel. These settings will be available just after the post editor. To be able to see the Focus Keywords as yes in Article heading, you need to make sure the focused keyword is used as such in your post title. If you have used the focused keyword in other sections of your blog post like its URL, Meta description section and actual page content, you will see Yes against them. I hope this will help you.

      • Dhruv Bhagat says:

I got “YES” when I have not entered the “meta description”. But I think, meta description has its own importance.. I got similar results as yours (screenshot).. And you have also not entered any meta description. Is there any way through which I can get “YES” at the time when I write meta description for my post.. ??

        • Anil Agarwal says:

Most of Onpage SEO plugins used to pick few initial characters (Most likely first 160 characters) from your blog post. So it may be possible you have used the targeted keyword within first 160 characters. That’s why this plugin is showing Yes Against Meta Description.

  4. Dhruv Bhagat says:

    Thanks a ton Anil. 🙂
This worked for me !!! 🙂
    Thank you so much !!!
