11 Best Free Plagiarism Checker Websites for Bloggers (You Can’t Miss Them)

Plagiarism has been a pain in the ass for many content marketers and if proper care is not taken to prevent publishing copied contents on your prestigious blog then, I’m afraid, you won’t be on this for long.

The painful truth is that people are lazy these days. Just ask most people that claim to be freelance writers to write a short 500 words article on any topic, and they will go copy it from the internet and present it to you. Now, as someone who’s busy with so many other things, you might end up publishing such stolen pieces on your blog and what do you think might happen next?

Oh yea, you guessed it right!

You will start getting embarrassing emails from the original owner of the article asking you to take it down or I guess you already know.

However, the problem of plagiarism does not only surface when you outsource articles, If you’re someone that accept guest posts from other bloggers then chances are, some of the guest posts you often receive might not be original as well and having such articles on your site will only be sabotaging your SEO efforts thereby putting your blog on the line.

A survey carried out by the Psychological Record shows that 36% of undergraduates have admitted to plagiarizing written material.

Similar to publishing copied contents on your blog, someone might also copy your own articles and publish on their blog and as you already know, this can result to Google penalizing your site. It is therefore pertinent to always monitor your articles to ensure no one is copying you without proper permission and attribute.

Luckily, there is a good solution to this, the best thing is to always use plagiarism checker websites to figure out if you’re dealing with original contents or not. There are many of such tools on the internet today but, the problem is that many people are usually not able to afford such tools, that is why I’m writing this post for you.

Are you searching for free plagiarism detecting tools? Do you really desire to ensure every article that goes to your site is pure, immaculate and original?

Well, if you answered yes to the questions above then, search no more because you’re already in the right place.

What is Plagiarism?

what is plagiarism

Now, if you’ve been in the content marketing business for long, I bet you already know what plagiarism stands for. But in case you don’t, I will take a little time to explain.

Plagiarism simply means copying from other sources without giving any credit. It’s like cheating and taking someone else hard work to claim it as your own. Due to immense growth in website creation, more and more people are searching for easy ways to copy others content to get more traffic to their websites.

what is Plagiarism

Though Google search engine crawlers are smart enough to know which is copied and which is not, but you have to take care of your content not to get copied by others.

As a blogger who works online most of the time, it isn’t unusual to stumble upon my work published on websites that I never gave permission to reproduce my work. After all the painstaking effort put in especially in writing my web hosting review articles, it is annoying and frustrating to find my work being irresponsibly copied by other “writers” on other web hosting blogs.

Plagiarism can simply be defined as the most “similar imitation” in which a particular work previously and originally done by an author is copied without the author’s knowledge or approval.

Plagiarism can simply be defined as the most “similar imitation” in which a particular work previously and originally done by an author is copied without the author’s knowledge or approval.

I recommend everyone who blogs to create a copyright page and place it on either footer or best visible places on their websites. This way if someone copies your content, you can ask DMCA or Google to remove that content from your websites, you can even take copyright infringement issues against them. So immediately start working on creating a copyright page for your blogs and websites.

Types of Plagiarism

It might interest you to know that plagiarism comes in two forms namely: Intentional and unintentional plagiarism.

  • Intentional Plagiarism: This is a case where someone intentionally copied your content in other words, he did it consciously. This is what most cheap freelance writers often do. Article spinners and newbie bloggers that know nothing about the various laws guiding the internet are also victims of this.
  • Unintentional Plagiarism: In this type, the copied content is done without you being aware of it. This can usually happen when you’re writing and there happen to be traces of some sentences similar to what you have on your content. Also, it can be detected when you quote someone else work without giving proper attribution and credit.

In either case, you’ve committed plagiarism and will face the consequence is nothing is done about it.

Why Use Plagiarism Detecting Tools?

plagiarism checker tools

To simply detect the copied content online. If you want to know who copied your content, plagiarism detectors help you easily figure out that. Google releases latest updates to either penalize or reward websites.

If your websites have thin contents or using bad strategies to build links, it will automatically get penalized by Google’s updates like panda and penguin. If you have quality contents, you will get top results in SERP’s, it is as simple as that.

So if someone copies your content, Google crawlers see multiple pages on their search results with the same information. Even though if you are not copying from others, your site might be penalized because of others stealing from you.

To prevent this, you need to regularly check Google search results whether someone is copying your contents or not. Then you need to take specific actions (DMCA etc.) to remove that contents from other pages.

To find who is copying your contents on Internet, plagiarism detecting websites help you solve your problems. Yes, surely you can also use Google (copy and pasting your own content) to find who is copying your contents, but it becomes a mess when you want to search bulk web pages.

That’s the reason why I decided to write a specific post on using the free duplicate content checker tools to find copied contents, I hope you will like all of them. Try one after the other, and let me know which one you liked most in the comment section.

Then I apply for Adsense and I got a reply that I have scrap content on my site, so I check all my content on SmallSEOTools to find those duplicated content. To my surprise, there is a lot of content that as been copy on my website to other sites, and Copyscape didn’t see any of this. so I don’t thing Copyscape is a great choice for me.

    • We’ve used Copyscape several times and it generated some of the copied search results (our content is copied by other sites, so it was showing those results). One thing you can try is instead of searching for a ton of text at once, pick few paragraphs from your blog posts and try to search for duplicate content using these tools like Copyscape as it gets you better results.

    • Yes Swapnil, that’s 100% right, if you really want to create unique content, you must use these tools so you can be safe from all the plagiarism. If the blog content is new, thereโ€™s a good chance Google hasnโ€™t scraped it yet and it could also be a blog Google doesnโ€™t scrape (perhaps because there arenโ€™t enough outside links), so always make sure you’re adding only UNIQUE and original content.

  7. Our open source software is infected by plagiarism. It is difficult for me to understand why some of the bloggers don’t care about intellectual property rights. Besides soon or later Google will identify stolen content and cast away your blog in the search system to the end. Sometimes, your content can be reposted without your permission, so if you want to catch a thief, choose the plagiarism checker which scans documents in real time across Google. My anti-plagiarism tool is Unplag https://unplag.com/. I have chosen it because: it supports a lot of document formats, it uses live-web indexes and it is lighting-fast.

    Reply
    • No Mounika, none of the free plagiarism checkers store your work and publish it on the internet later as thousands (if not millions) of web pages are being checked every single day. To store that kind of size information, they’ll have to maintain huge databases which is also expensive. So they don’t store, you can use without any hassle.
