Brief history of Bluehost and HostMonster

In this comparison post, I’m intended to help you choose the best web host for your next website. If you don’t know much about BlueHost and HostMonster, they, in fact are sister hosting companies that are owned by the same CEO, Matt Heaton.

If you dig more into their History, BlueHost was established in 1996 and HostMonster in 1999. Matt Heaton has been running both the hosting companies with the same technical staff, data centers, servers, support staff and technology. That’s why you may notice lots of similarity in their features, pricing plan and support system.

Both the companies are offering the single hosting plan to all of their customers. There are companies like ChemiCloud who used to offer different hosting plans as per their customer’s need like shared hosting, VPS Hosting and Dedicated server hosting.

BlueHost is a much bigger brand than HostMonster simple reason being it was started much earlier; it has much more market value and bigger customer base.

Features Comparison

As stated above, you will enjoy the similar kind of features from both of these web hosting companies. Here is the list of features you will get with BlueHost and HostMonster:

Support Comparison

Both the hosting companies support staff know their tasks very well. Both the companies used to share the same support staff with each other. They are giving away 24×7 US support to their customers via Chat, Toll Free Number, Email and through ticketing system.

Price Comparison

If you go for 12 months billing cycle with Bluehost, you will be charged $1.99/month only. With Hostmonster, for 12 months billing cycle, you have to pay $6.95/month, for 24 months billing period, you will be charged $5.95/month and for 36 months times period, you have to pay a monthly fee of $4.95.

From the above price comparison between the two web hosts, it’s quite clear Bluehost is more affordable than Hostmonster. With Bluehost, you can start a blog for $1.99/mo only that hosting and a free domain name.

Don’t Miss: Bluehost Promo Coupon Code to Save 66% Money.

So you should go for BlueHost or HostMonster whichever is most affordable and in case both of them are offering the same price, I would Recommend BlueHost.

What’s Our Take on These Hosts?

If you look at the features and benefits (along with pricing plans) of both hosting companies, you really won’t find any difference between both of them.

So we advice you to pick a hosting company that’s offering you huge discounts at the time of signing up so you can save a ton. But if you ask for our recommendation, we suggest you to go with Bluehost.

The #1 reason is we’ve been using Bluehost on couple of sites for a long time and it never disappointed us and Bluehost is also one of the few hosting companies that’s officially recommended by WordPress itself.

  1. I used to work for Bluehost Support. Bluehost, Hostmonster, Justhost and FastDomain are all the exact same company. As a support tech, I took support calls from all 4 accounts. They all have the exact same control panel and server structure. you don’t get better support on one from the other because it is the same support staff regardless. I always recommended to get a FastDomain hosting service because there are so few people who do that, that you are not sharing a server with as many other people as you would from the other 3. So, problems people see with the server’s is usually due to other shared users abusing the resources. but support and services are the exact same. Just thought you would like to know.

  2. I have used Hostmonster for many years and never had the slightest bit of trouble. The only thing that is lacking is that they cannot register a .ca website although they host it.
