Summary
Honestly, we’ve stuck with Namecheap at BloggersPassion mostly because it’s cheap for domain registration only. We are not using their hosting services as it is not up to the mark quality. It’s definitely not the fastest host we’ve tested, and the price does jump when you renew after the first year.
I’ve been using Namecheap for years, primarily to manage domain names.
But I’ve also spent a fair amount of time testing their hosting services to see if they actually hold up.
In this review, I’m going to skip the fluff and share what it’s actually like to use them in 2026.
I’ll break down:
- The speeds we saw
- The reality of their “cheap” pricing plans
- And where they fell short during our testing.

Here are a few top reasons and benefits to choose Namecheap to host your WordPress sites in 2026.
1. Budget Friendly Entry Point
Their Stellar plans often start under $2/month. Other hosts like Bluehost or HostArmada often lead with low “intro” prices that skyrocket upon renewal, Namecheap’s increases feel much more manageable.
Even on their basic plan, we’ve been able to host up to three separate websites. This is a rarity at this price point.
Namecheap also gives you;
- A free .website domain (for ex: www.yourdomain.website)
- Free WhoisGuard protection (to protect the privacy of your website domain information)
2. We Don’t Have to Pay for Migrations
Migrating all your site files to a new hosting platform without losing files is difficult and time-consuming. If you’re a beginner, you’ll find it almost impossible to do the migration.
Namecheap offers free site migration from other hosting to Namecheap.
Namecheap has a well-trained migration team to provide services to migrate your website from existing hosting to their hosting servers free of cost.
You can get all types of site migrations for free which include;
- cPanel site migration
- Site without cPanel migration
- Email transfers
- Transfer to a VPS or dedicated server
3. They Use a Standard cPanel
Namecheap provides industry-standard cPanel control panels that allow you to manage and maintain all the website-related stuff, including emails, databases, domain parking, site backups, etc.

4. Namecheap offers 24×7 support
Several years ago, my site BloggersPassion, got hacked with malicious scripts.
I tried a lot to get “professional help” from the HostGator customer support team, but they never bothered about our site’s security and showed zero interest in solving the issue.
Namecheap offers 24×7 support assistance to all its hosting users and lets you connect with them through

You can get in touch with their support team simply by logging into your cPanel account by entering your username and password.
If you’re not a Namecheap user, you can simply use their “Submit a Ticket” page to ask queries regarding the hosting or domain registration.
We’ve found they are great for routine issues. For deep technical issues, you might have to wait for a “ticket escalation,” which can take a few hours. It’s not “instant” expert help though!
5. Little bit Secure Only
Thousands of websites getting hacked every single day. As I explained earlier, I also had to face the security issue with my previous hosting HostGator.
So, If you don’t want to deal with all the security breaches on your site, you should use the hosting that gives top priority to securing their sites and hosting environment.
Namecheap focuses on security by providing their hosting servers with SSL certificates, WhoisGuard, incredible OS, and data servers. Both SSL certificates and WhoisGuard features are provided for every Namecheap customer free of cost.

For our sites, we sometimes opt for their Premium DNS.
It’s powered by Verisign and costs less than $5 a year. It’s a small price to pay for slightly faster query speeds and better redundancy compared to the steep rates GoDaddy charges for similar features.
7. Free SSL with Namecheap shared hosting plans
Namecheap provides free SSL certificates for all domains and subdomains (up to 50 per account).
In our testing, these install automatically most of the time. It’s essential for that “HTTPS” padlock, which we’ve found is non-negotiable for both user trust and basic SEO.
HTTPS (SSL encrypted) sites load much faster than HTTP (non https) sites and tend to give you better search rankings on Google because Google rewards the faster loading web pages to give their users a better experience.
These SSL certificates give you protection in 3 layers, which are listed below.

Namecheap offers a great 100% monthly uptime guarantee. If you get any downtime issues, you can claim for their uptime guarantee where you will be eligible for a Service cycle prolongation for the time the service was unreachable (max of 1 month of free hosting from Namecheap).
For all the non-scheduled maintenance and downtime issues from Namecheap shared hosting environment, they will offer you a 1-day Service cycle prolongation for each hour of downtime experienced.
9. The Major Catch: Resource Limits
Here is the disadvantage we always tell people to watch out for: the storage and file limits.
On the Namecheap basic plans, you are limited by “Inodes” (the number of files on your account).
If you have three large WordPress sites with lots of images, you’ll hit this limit faster than you think.
Once you hit it, your site might stop saving new data or become sluggish. In other words, if your site grows quickly, you will eventually need to upgrade.
What the Community is Saying
When we look at reviews from other users, the feedback is usually split. People either love the low prices or they get frustrated when something technical goes wrong.
Trustpilot (4.2/5 Stars)
On Trustpilot, most people are happy from Namecheap.
About 71% of users give them a perfect score. We’ve noticed that these happy customers usually talk about how easy it is to buy a domain and how helpful the live chat is for simple questions.
However, about 15% of people gave them only 1 star. Most of these complaints are about:
- Sites running slowly.
- Accounts getting locked for security checks.
- Downtime that lasted longer than expected.
G2 (4.3/5 Stars):
On G2, the rating is a bit higher. Most people here use Namecheap for their business domains.
They like that the dashboard is easy to use and doesn’t have as many annoying pop-up ads as some other big names.
There is one thing we’ve noticed that can be annoying: The Help Bot.
When we try to use the live chat, we have to talk to a robot first.
It tries to give you articles to read instead of just letting you talk to a person.
If your website is broken, clicking through a bot’s questions can be really frustrating. It eventually lets you talk to a human, but it takes a few extra steps that weren’t there before.

- Support is Always There: We’ve hopped on their 24/7 live chat at 3:00 AM before, and there’s always someone ready to help.
- Free Website Move: If you’re already hosting somewhere else, the Namecheap team will move your site over for you for free.
- Familiar Dashboard: They use cPanel, which is the industry standard. We find it much easier to use than the custom dashboards other hosts try to force on you.
- Solid Uptime: In our experience, our sites rarely go down. They even offer a guarantee for it.
Cons of Namecheap Hosting:
- Limited space with all the plans
- Gets expensive after 1 year of your hosting renewal (it’s still not much expensive when compared to other hosting services though)

This is what most people start with. You share a server with other websites to keep the cost down.

- Stellar Plus ($2.28/mo): This is their most popular plan. You get “unmetered” space (within reason) and can host as many sites as you want.
- Stellar Business ($4.48/mo): If you’re running a small business site, this is the one to pick. It’s faster and they give you better backup tools.
2. EasyWP (Managed WordPress)
If you hate technical stuff and just want a WordPress site that works, this is for you. It doesn’t use cPanel; it has its own simple dashboard.
- Starter (~$38.88/yr): Good for up to 50k visitors a month.
- Turbo (~$61.88/yr): Good for up to 200k visitors. It’s noticeably faster because it has more “power” (RAM and CPU).
- Supersonic (~$78.88/yr): This is their top-tier WordPress plan for sites with up to 500k visitors.
3. VPS & Dedicated (For High Traffic)
We only suggest these if your site is getting a lot of visitors or you have a large online store.
- VPS Hosting: Starts around $3.88/mo. It’s like having your own private “slice” of a server.
- Dedicated Servers: Starts around $42.88/mo. You get an entire physical server all to yourself.

Thank you for this indepth review of NameCheap, it is always good to find more independent webhosts rather than get stuck into the EIG hosts!
Obviously at under $10 a month the price does seems attractive but their renual rates are about $40 a month after the first year – which means plenty of customers would leave them after the first year! However, the churn rate aside, I don’t see any reason on missing our on the 1st years discount, right! And since you mentioned that we can host 3 domains on that package – surely makes it better than quite a few popular webhosts.
Overall, checking into all the features, NameCheap does seems to be a decent webhost. Hopefully it will lower the $10 a month to about $3 to $5 a month to stay competitive in the price point comparision with other webhosts,
