So what are you still waiting for?

First things first, to get started with a blog, you need two things;

  • Domain name
  • Hosting

Here are some domain name generator tools to help you come up with domain name ideas really quickly.

And there are a ton of hosting choices available. We personally use Bluehost on some of the sites and it’s especially good for beginners (which costs just under $36 a year where you’ll also get a free domain for first year).

Here’s a simple step by step tutorial on how to start a frugal living blog on Bluehost.

Step 1: Go to Bluehost and click on the “Get started now” button.

Here’s how it looks like;

Bluehost

Important note: Using our affiliate link, you’ll get Bluehost hosting starting at just $2.95 per month (it usually costs you $3.95 per month).

Step 2: Choose a website hosting plan.

Once you click on the button “Get Started Now”, you can see choose your hosting plan. Select their Basic option as it is the best option for brand new websites.

Step 3: Register a domain name

The good thing about using Bluehost hosting is that it offers a free domain name for 1 year (which means, you’ll be instantly saving $10 to $20 on domain registration).

It is suggested to have .com, you can also use different endings (such as: .net, .org or even .co.uk). If you already have a domain name, use the right form – ‘I have a domain name’. If you don’t want to choose your domain right away, you can also do it later.

Step 4: Complete the registration process

Enter your personal details to complete the registration process. Add your name, address, phone number, email address etc. Once you have signed up with Bluehost, you can easily install WordPress on Bluehost using their 1 click install.

That’s it, you’re done.

  1. Great points to consider if you want to live a frugal lifestyle. Especially items 2,6,10, and 11. Purchasing a car or home that you can comfortably afford can go a long way in allowing you to live on significantly less than what you make. Foregoing spending on expensive entertainment and outings and trying to impress others are also key.
