Summary
In this review, Iโll share my long-term experience from why I initially moved to WPX to the real limitations Iโve noticed over the years. This is not just a feature list, but a practical look at whether WPX makes sense for your type of website today.
During this time, Iโve tested WPX across speed, security handling, migrations, and customer support interactions. The goal here is to share honest observations so you can decide whether WPX fits your needs โ not to push a purchase.
WPX is known for the performance but is this really true? Let’s find out.

Is WPX Right for You?

My answer after analysis and review:
The scalability is not huge, Up to 40 GB storage allowance would meet the requirements of most high end WordPress blogs and eCommerce sites. But it may be insufficient for the highly dynamic backend sites. WPX is welcoming all those sites that have been infected with malware and are ready to onboard after fixing.
Also they are giving assurance to all users that they will fix a site if it goes down for any possible reason. A 28-day automated backup retention policy is a huge perk for big WooCommerce stores.
WPX Hosting Pros:
- Free unlimited SSL certificates
- Fixed for you guarantee in case of malware attacks
- They offer free site speed optimization service in which they will audit your site manually, adjust configurations and finally enhance the overall performance
- Free website migration
- Industry leading 24/7 customer support assistance (as their average response time is less than 40 seconds)
- Daily backups and fully secured
- 24/7 Malware & Hack Scanning
- Full backup manager
- Staging area
- Free malware removal
- No increase on plan renewal (unlike other web hosts like Bluehost, HostGator etc)
- Monthly hosting plans are also available for risk free trial
- They have their own built in CDN – Meaning users wonโt have to pay extra to additional CDN service
- 30 days refund policy is a nice thing
WPX Hosting Cons:
- Their pricing starts at $6.30 per month (the entry plans lack performance as the CPU power & PHP workers are lesser)
- It doesnโt offer you a traditional cPanel (as they have their own custom interface which of course is simple and pretty easy to use)
- No auto-scaling for server resources under high load
- Free domain is not available.
- Backend performance (e.g., PHP workers) can be limited for very dynamic, high-concurrency sites
WPX Hosting: The Introduction

WPX Hosting, established in 2013, is a company that specializes in hosting WordPress websites. Over the past decade, they’ve won awards for their great support and fast performance.
Instead of trying to serve every hosting use case, WPX has stayed focused on WordPress users. Their two main specialties are their “Fix for You guarantee” and “Free Site Speed Optimization” services.
The โFix for Youโ guarantee means their team steps in if a site goes down or faces technical issues. This support-first approach is one of the main reasons WPX retains long-term customers.
In addition to Managed WordPress hosting, they also offer WooCommerce hosting. Their WooCommerce plans come with extra resources and PHP workers to ensure the smooth operation of eCommerce stores.
WPX plans are shared based, but they offer dedicated resources to each individual site. This might be a problem for users who are looking solely for dedicated server hosting plans.
While their pricing may seem higher compared to competitors like Kinsta and WP Engine, But in reality, WPX plans are cheaper. Additionally, they include many features for free such as SSL, backups, CDN, email, and more.
Overall, WPX Hosting is best for growing sites with monthly traffic of 50k or more, rather than beginners looking for cheap WordPress hosting options.
| Overall Rating: | 4.7/5 |
| Uptime Guarantee: | 99.95% |
| Hosting Types: | Managed WordPress & Managed WooCommerce |
| 24*7 Live Support: | Yes |
| Key Features: | Inbuilt CDN with 41 XDN Points, Free speed optimizations, Fix for you if offline, Daily Automated Backups, Fully Managed, 99.95 Uptime guarantee, Staging Area, Enterprise level DDoS protection. |
| Money Back: | 30 Days |
This gives a high-level view of what WPX offers.
Next, Iโll break down what actually changed after I moved my sites to WPX and how it performed over long-term usage.
Exploring WPX: What Changed After Switching
I had a bad experience with my previous hosting, which is the main reason to write this review.
It’s been a while since I moved to WPX, and if I think hard, I still remember these main problems I had with my previous host:
- Performance Issues (Related with down time & slow speed)
- Security issues (This was a major problem)
- Customer support issues (I had received a helpless support service)
So how does WPX hosting resolve my issues? What are the good and bad of WPX?
Let me share with you everything.
WPX Hosting Performance Insights: They Promised 99.95% Uptime, But Do They Maintain It?
My website is hitting more than a million users every year. And there are times when sudden traffic hits.

Surely, the uptime of my previous host was fine, but its load-handling capacity was quite poor, which caused my site to crash several times.
Here are the performance metrics my website used to record before and after I switched to the WPX server.
| Performance Before WPX | Performance After WPX |
| Average Page Loading time: 2.94 Seconds | Average Page Loading time: 1.2 Seconds |
| Speed Score: 82/100 | Speed Score: 95/100 |
| Average Response Time: 2.0 Seconds | Average Response Time: 94.16 ms |
| Uptime: 99.89% | Uptime: 99.987% |
As per Portent report, a site delivers maximum conversions if it loads within or below 1 second. But you can see how bad the situation was with my previous web host.
WPX gave me much better results. (see the table)
My WPX hosting plan configuration is this:
- Server Location: US (Chicago)
- Plan: Professional
- WPX Built-in CDN: On
Now letโs have a detailed look at performance.
Page Speed Results:

Honestly speaking, I give too much importance to my website speed. Before WPX, it usually took nearly 3 seconds to load.
But once I switched to WPX, my blog speed skyrocketed. Itโs now loading in an average of 1.2 seconds.
WPX also outperformed some of the major competitors in the web hosting market including:
- Hostinger: 2.014 Seconds
- HostGator: 2.12 Seconds
- GoDaddy: 2.94 Seconds
- Bluehost: 3.00 Seconds

The Last 12 Months Average Uptime is Recorded as 99.987%:
WPX has been giving an uptime guarantee of 99.95% on Paper.
Using Uptime Robot, I started monitoring the uptime of my WPX site from June 2023.
And itโs been 3 years now. Here are the results:

In a span of a year, my site was down for a total of 1 hour 7 minutes.
Now, when you look closer, none of the downtime events last for more than 2 minutes. This shows how fast WPX is in resolving their system issues.

Sudden Traffic Test:
The real efficiency of a web hosting service can only be determined by the โstress testโ.
The stress test is nothing but a test where a tool like k6 sends automated bulk traffic from various locations across the world to the website at the same time.
These test results are especially useful for eCommerce websites, where sudden increases in traffic are more likely to happen.

In just 5 minutes, My WPX site server handled a total of 26k requests during the load test, with the highest load occurring within that short time.
Even with the spike in traffic, the performance remained consistently good, with an average response time of just 62 ms.
No errors were encountered during the test.
Seeing such quick response times reassures me that WPX can handle sudden increases in traffic without any problems. The servers stayed up throughout the test, showing their reliability.
Built-In CDN & Global Reach (41 XDN Points)
Do you know what the main reason behind WPX Hosting’s fast performance is?
The answer is: that WPX has its own CDN (Content Delivery Network) built-in, which is included in all plans. You don’t have to pay extra for this.
Although WPX’s data centers are only located in 3 major locations: Chicago (USA), Sydney (AU), and London (UK).

You might think that having fewer data centers means you might not get good reach. But that’s not the case at all.
Why?
Because WPX has XDN points spread across 41+ locations worldwide, the cache is stored and delivered from the nearest one when a website is loaded.
Before WPX, I only had 2-4 data centers to choose from. But WPX completely transformed the landscape. Having 41+ XDN Points is a significant upgrade, and the number keeps growing.
If your websiteโs serving a global audience, youโll see a big improvement with the WPX Cloud environment as WPX Hosting internal tests show improvements from 50% to 320%, depending on the website configuration and resources.
Iโve personally experienced a HUGE improvement in the website loading times as our site went from loading in 2.94 seconds to loading within half a second (3 times faster after enabling the WPX cloud feature).
With WPX’s built-in CDN, there’s no need to use another CDN plugin or rely on services like Cloudflare.
Literally, you’ll save $20-$100 per month because of this WPX built-in feature. And guess what, you donโt get a built-in CDN feature in other web hosting plans within WPX’s pricing segment.
Until October 2019, the CDN didn’t come by default in any of the accounts, but that’s not the case anymore.
Enabling the CDN is now just a one-click process.
All you have to do is navigate to the WPX XDN tab and enable the CDN button.

Free Site Speed Optimization (What It Actually Does)

Remember I mentioned one of the specialties of WPX at the start of this review?
It is all about the free site speed optimization service provided by the WPX support team without any additional charges. This is a rare service you wonโt find in other web hosting companies.
There are bad times in performance no matter which web host you choose.
But if you have less technical knowledge, how could you manage it all by yourself?
Well, I personally take help from WPX experts whenever I make a mistake or tweak some website configuration that impacts my site’s overall performance.
I inquired extensively about this service before signing up with WPX. Initially, I thought this service was just to attract users, but when they optimized my site’s performance, I gained trust in their expertise.
After availing this service, you can anticipate a performance increase of 30-40%.
They always assisted me not only by offering suggestions but also by manually auditing my site, identifying issues causing problems, and optimizing the site’s performance and health.
You can claim this service whenever you feel something going wrong with your WPX Site speed.
All you have to do is to fill out an optimization form and youโre good to go.

Once WPX experts receive your request, they will perform tasks like:
- Install or configure a site caching plugin correctly
- Configure image optimization
- Configure database optimization
- Detailed plugin audit and find vulnerable one that slows down the performance
- And more.
Security: Long-Term Stability Without Extra Add-ons
There were some serious security issues with my previous web host. I had no other option left rather than to change a web host.
Several years ago, my site, BloggersPassion, got hacked with malicious scripts (to steal some of our backlinks).

So how does WPX hosting secure my website?
Well, it has the following essential security features that make your site threats & malicious attacks free:
- Constantly updated WAF (Web Application Firewall)
- Proactive Clean-ups
- Email spam filtering
- Unlimited SSL certificates
- Enterprise-level DDOS protection provided by Incapsula
- Daily malware scans are performed across all the sites that are hosted on WPX Hosting servers
- Daily system-wide malware removal at no additional cost to you
- They will also clean up malicious redirects, backdoors, script injections, and so on
- Daily Automated Backups
- WAF for blocking malicious traffic
- 2FA
Above all, individual site audits are also performed by the WPX Malware Team in special cases (in case your site is infected by any malware).
How can I forget to share that these guys also offer a โFixed for You Guaranteeโ.
It means that even if your site gets hacked, they will fix your security issues and give you a fully working site at no additional cost. So youโre in safe hands.
Just have a look at what youโll get from their โFixed for You Guarantee.โ

As you can see above, their team will fix the problem for free ASAP.
For websites whose business relies entirely on their site, such security services from WPX are quite helpful in mitigating any unwanted security concerns.
Daily Automated Backups (28-Day Retention)

WPX retained automated backups for 28 Days in their system.
In my previous host, there was only a manual backup service available, and I usually took manual backups once a month.
But when a malicious attack occurred, most of my site’s data was lost, and because I didn’t have recent backups, I couldn’t fully recover my site’s data.
In today’s time, if your site is large and undergoes changes and updates on a daily basis, having a daily automated backup facility is essential.
Most hosting companies charge extra for providing daily automated backups, such as Bluehost.
But that’s not the case with WPX.
WPX offers you a daily automated backup of your whole site. And the best thing is they keep the backup on different servers, hence there would be no impact on the site server.
In case you lose all your website files (in the worst-case scenario), it is still possible to get all that data back without much effort or paying anything extra.
WPX hosting service doesnโt charge anything for doing daily backups. All of their hosting plans included this great feature.
Staging Environment (Useful, With Limits)
Now itโs time to dig into WPX hosting problems!
The first thing I don’t like about WPX is their staging setup conditions.

You can quickly deploy your website to a staging environment with just one click, but there are some conditions you need to be aware of:
- WPX treats the staging site as a separate user site, which will use up one slot from your available plan.
- The size of your databases should be less than 1 GB.
- The size of your website files should be less than 5 GB.
- The staging site will occupy disk space from your hosting storage.
Only if your site meets these conditions, you will be able to set up a staging site.
Migration to WPX is a Simple Task
These days, some companies charge for providing migration assistance, while others don’t.
Fortunately, WPX offers a free migration service.

But here’s something unique: WPX also accepts sites that are infected with malware. They first remove the malware and then start the onboarding process.
So for users whose websites have issues preventing other web hosting companies from migrating them, WPX’s premium migration service is always available.
You don’t have to do anything yourself. Whether you have one site or a hundred, the WPX migration team will handle the task entirely for you. There’s no need for you to manually configure anything.
Isn’t it great for beginners?
You Donโt Get a Traditional cPanel User Interface
If you are a fan of cPanel type web hosting interface, then sorry WPX is not offering a cPanel.
Instead, they have their own custom built user interface.
Upon reviewing the user interface, I must rate it 4.7/5 for its ease of use. You wonโt face an issue in managing WPX hosting settings.
The only drawback I found in their user interface is the absence of a “search” option.
1.) Setup or configuring a new account in WPX is a simple process.

All you have to do is purchase a plan and send a request for migration. The WPX agents will handle the domain transfer, website migration, WordPress installation, SSL setup, and other necessary tasks for you.
2.) Upon logging in to your account, one can see the list of active hosting and domains on the WPX hosting.

3.) Tracking how much resources your site has consumed is a simple task. All you have to do is tap on the โShow Usagesโ button.

4.) Adding a subdomain or setting up a staging environment is also a one click task.

5.) Access to most common hosting tools like Backups & Recovery, File manager, WPX CDN, Databases is always available at the left sticky sidebar. Because of this, users wonโt have to remember the tabs.

Customer Support: The Main Reason I Stay
WPX customer support service is available 24/7/365 via tickets, e-mails, and Live Chat.
After performance & security, The need for quality customer support is the BIG reason behind my switch to a new web host (WPX).
Since 2016 until now, I’ve contacted WPX customer support countless times, and they always reply to me within 1 minute.
My previous host was just talkative, suggesting only solutions in writing. They never go beyond and help me like a real human.

Thatโs when I realized the importance of having a web host that offers you โfaster yet professional customer support assistanceโ.
Pro tip: Donโt go for any web hosting service without knowing about their customer support. If their support sucks, you will hate yourself, and in the process, you waste a lot of time and money. Google about their customer staff and read all the customer reviews.
Just have a look at the recent support chat I had with the WPX Hosting team.
They also have a knowledge base that answers most of my general queries whether it is related to backups, CDN, setup, and more.

But I always prefer to contact them through live chat in a situation where:
- I need a site optimization service
- My site is experiencing slow times
- I made a mistake by tweaking some configurations
- More

Here is the detailed evaluation of the WPX support:
- Support Channel: 24*7 Email, Ticket, Live Chat
- Response Time (After Sales): Live Chat (1 Minutes)
- Humans Support or Bots Support: Only Humans
- Language Support: English (Most of the time)
- Technical Expertise Level: Very High
- Complexity Handling Level: Very High
- Problem Resolution Score: 4.8/5
The support through Phone is still missing in WPX (Surely a major drawback).
No Auto Scaling or Real-Time Billing (Important Limitation)
Well, as you may know, WPX has some limitations on resources, meaning even in their high-end plans, you can’t scale up beyond 60 GB of storage.
In case your site experiences a sudden need for bandwidth, SSD storage, or RAM, you’ll have to manually upgrade your plan. Otherwise, you won’t be allocated extra resources.
WPX doesn’t support automated scaling, and this could be a problem for news websites or large eCommerce sites where requirements of extra resources occur anytime.
Furthermore, downscaling isn’t possible with WPX. Services like Cloudways follow a pattern of resource allocation where users can save a significant amount of money based on real-time billing usage.
For example, my site currently uses 85 GB of bandwidth, but I’m paying for 400 GB of monthly bandwidth. So, even if I have leftover resources at the end of the month, I still pay for the full 400 GB.
WPX Pricing Evaluation
WPX recently introduced WPX WooCommerce hosting plans for e-commerce websites. Earlier, WPX only offered WordPress plans.
Unlike other hosts who play mind games with their customers and try to steal more money from users, WPX is absolutely fair about their charges.
You will pay what you see. The renewal pricing is the same as when you buy at the first time and there are no hidden charges.
And do remember, there is no such free domain thing in WPX.
WPX WordPress Hosting Plan
WPX WordPress plans are designed to provide fast and reliable hosting for WordPress websites, with each tier offering increased storage, bandwidth, and the ability to host more websites.
WPX offers the following 3 pricing plans.
- Starter
- Business
- Professional

1. Starter: This is a new plan recently introduced by them. I don’t suggest them as they have a serious issue with low CPU power and PHP workers. Starts from just $6.30/month.
2. Business: If you are running a small website or blog but want to make it run blazing fast, this plan is for you. Or if you are just starting a new blog and want better, super fast, and reliable WordPress hosting, you should consider this plan.
This plan costs you $10.50 per month, and you can host up to 5 websites with a bandwidth of 200 GB. You will also get 20 GB of disk space along with dedicated RAM and SSD servers to boost your website loading times.
3. Professional: If you want a slightly more advanced version of the above hosting plan, then the Professional plan is for you. You can have more flexibility as you can also host up to 15 sites at a time without any hassle. (We are also using this plan for hosting BloggersPassion.com)
This plan costs you $21.00 per month, and you can host up to 15 websites with a bandwidth of 400 GB. You will also get 40 GB of disk space along with dedicated RAM and SSD servers to boost your website speed and performance.
WPX Hosting Alternatives
If you donโt feel good about WPX, donโt worry, Learn more about the best hosting options in our detailed guide, Also, There are few alternatives that comes in the same pricing segment.
My top picks are:
1.) Kinsta: Starts from $35 a month, and it has more data centers and dedicated resources based plans compared to WPX.
2.) WP Engine: Starts from $25/month and it offers additional advantages over WPX such as Phone support, a longer money back guarantee, offer more freebies like WordPress plugins & themes.
3.) Bluehost: Bluehost managed WP plans start from $3.79 and are mainly suitable for new websites and not for growing sites. Compared to WPX, it has benefits like phone support, cheap pricing, and a free domain name.
4.) Cloudways: Offer an advantage of real time scaling over WPX.
5.) Hostinger: It offers affordable web hosting with shared, VPS, and cloud plans, featuring a user-friendly control panel, 24/7 support, and 99.9% uptime. It includes a website builder and free SSL, ideal for all users.

6. WordPress.com: It is a perfect alternative that saves you a lot of money on renewals and offers the best performance especially in the USA & UK regions.

Hi Anil,
I switched to WPX last month, but yesterday we were faced with a massive outage, and the websites went down for 6+ hours. The most frustrating thing was, they hosted their own website on the same server, and that too went down. No way to reach them, and finally, people began to post comments on FB, then only they started responding. We can see how they communicated on the Facebook page. Finally, they put all responsibility on third-party service on which they are depending.
Their lack of communication and lack of backup plan put them into a 4.7 score from 4.9 on Trustpilot. Unfortunately, bloggers passion was also down for the full 6 hours.
Vipin, that was really bad.
I am thinking to give them one more chance before making a move to some other host. If similar issues arises again, I will move to some other host without any thought.
You can decide if you want to switch now or want to give them one more chance.
Downtime can come on any host but the way you handle that is more important. Don’t like the idea of blaming third party services for such a long downtime. We are taking services from WPX, so we know them only.
Hi Anil,
Yes, correct. I, too, decided to stay with them. Hope that incident can help them to perform much better in those weak areas. There is no doubt about their performance, but that incident was also terrible. There was more transparency too, they provide their customers an option to cancel the hosting, lifting the 30-day moneyback due to the downtime. They never forced their users to stay with them. However, they assured better performance and offered a 3-month free period as compensation.
Finally, I too decided to see the future performance and stay with them. Another thing, no provider is 100% perfect, and downtime can happen to anyone. And we need to think only if that happens frequently.
So, still loving WPX, the fact is that they learned much from the downtime.
Hi Anil,
Are you still using WPX Hosting? I think the performance of WPX is not that great, like before. How do you feel?
Hi Vipin
We are still using them. I don’t see any issue with our performance. You can review our blog performance from your end as well once.
My website was working fine on my old Siteground Gogeek plan.
Then… I don’t know what they did during migration.
Right after migration, I started getting errors 500 on Woocommerce admin pages and triple charges both on Stripe and Paypal.
After 10 days, I left for Kinsta and still got (less) errors on a 1000$/y plan.
In conclusion, either Siteground has superpowers or something happened during the migration to WPX.
Their support replied fast but was useless.
Mkeshav if you have the budget, WPX hosting is perfect. There is no doubt about it. Between SiteGround and Hosting.com, I would go with Hosting.com.
Much appreciated, Anil.
Glad to have you with us and we will keep upgrading and keeping our service top-notch.
All the best,
WPX Team
Glad to see comment from you guys. Yes, I’m loving WPX hosting (have used a ton of web hosts before) and there’s no other web host that comes closer to the security features and hosting features that you offer.
Hey anil. Greate blog. Which plan are using for you blog. And how you know you that you have malware in your database.
Thank you
A good review. I have hosted with WPX for over a year and agree with all your comments. Their service is excellent. My one gripe is their awful webmail app. It would have felt clunky 10 years ago. It’s not a deal breaker as I only use it when I am away from my office for more than a couple of days, but it is a shocking let down to a brilliant service.
Mike
Thank you for your review you made me want to test it and i did it through your link hope you get credited for that have a great day.
