Switching to SE Ranking delivers a great benefit to me because pricing is a huge concern to me. Here, the pricing is low ($44/month) but the number of tools I get is high class and you cannot get with other SEO tools at this pricing point. 

The only major consideration for me is the database. It is big (5.6 B Keywords, 2.9 T Links) but not enormous at this stage but it is constantly growing.

SE Tools covered all core tools: Rank Tracking, Keyword Research, SERP Analysis, Competitor Analysis, Backlink Research, and Site Audit. After using them, I found their capability is advanced and the user interface looks easy as well.

Finally, You can switch to SE Ranking if you are a new user, a growing SEO business, or even an SEO agency. The plans here are fair for all kinds. However, it should be avoided if you need an SEO tool that shows data from more than one search engine.

SE Ranking’s keyword database is impressive (5.6 billion and expanding), but does it offer a robust keyword research tool?

In their keyword research tab, you’ll find plenty of tools. Whether you need just a single keyword overview, long-tail suggestions, or to analyze and find out your competitor’s keywords, everything is possible here.

Of course, I encountered a few issues with their keyword research tool.

Before discussing the plus and minus, take a look at their keyword research tool dashboard:

Plus Points:

1.) Accessing their keyword research tool is super easy for me. You can find the option to access the keyword research tool right in the top sidebar for quick access.

2.) If I want to see country specific keyword metrics, I get it easily. SE Ranking gives me the option to toggle between 90+ countries.

3.) The overview report of a keyword produced by SE Ranking is comprehensive yet pretty easy to understand.

When I put the seed keyword “SEO tool” in their keyword analysis tool, I got the following crucial metrics:

• Keyword difficulty – They have an “Update” option which refreshes and reveals the latest KD
• Search volume trend graph – I got a quick lookup of the search volume graph and the last one year data
• Search Intent 
• It shows CPC metrics for multiple countries at one go.
• They also reveal the search volume based on the different countries
• Data of Top 5 related keywords, and Top 5 question keywords
• Shows a quick SERP preview 
• Overview of Ranking dynamics report
• The popular ad campaign & ad history for the entered keyword

4.) The user interface of their main “Keyword Suggestions” tool looks uncluttered and clear to me.

5.) They use filters to organize keywords neatly. You got the following basic filters like: By number, By volume, By questions, and By low search volume.

They also have some advanced filters which are really handy and useful for deep keyword research.

You can use a “Word Count” filter to quickly extract the long tail suggestions.

6.) The SE Ranking isn’t short on important metrics. I get KD, Trend, Search volume, Search Intent, SERP Features, Trend, CPC, etc right on my dashboard. 

7.) Tasks like Bulk keyword research, Export to CSV, and Adding a keyword to a custom saved list are possible from a SE Ranking keyword research tool.

8.) Although separate SERP analysis is possible, if you want to have a quick look at the ranking competitors for the keyword then it is possible through the interface.

9.) I know there is no SEO tool that shows 100% accurate search volume accuracy of the keyword.

But I guess the SE Ranking search volume is pretty accurate. I have compared it with other advanced SEO tools and found results pretty much similar.

10.) With Keyword Manager, They also provide a custom list feature for users, which could be helpful for saving a few keywords and analyzing how their metrics change over time.

11.) Their keyword research tool includes a unique “Database Expansion” feature. If you can’t find data for certain keywords, you can input them here, and SE Ranking will fetch the data within a month.

Minus Points

12.) You get more related keyword suggestions in the USA, India, and the UK compared to most other countries.

13.) The total number of keyword suggestions shown by SE Ranking is slightly lesser as compared to other giants. I compared and found that SE Ranking is 30%-40% short on this aspect.

14.) The PPC keyword research is not supported by SE Ranking

15.) They have a special feature that gets auto-suggested keywords, but it costs extra. It’s probably better to get these keywords directly from a search engine than to pay more for it.

16.) They also ask for extra money ($0.001) for running a query for Keyword clustering (Keyword Grouping) – I feel disappointed here.

Verdict:

After playing a lot with the SE Ranking keyword research tool:

I must say, I’ve encountered some advanced SEO features. 

I appreciate how SE Ranking can display keyword data from over 90 countries. The advanced filters, comprehensive overview report, various types of keywords (questions, long-tail, related, etc.), advanced metrics (Search Intent, SERP features, Ads history), and bulk research features have left a strong impression on me.

However, it’s hard to overlook the fact that SE Ranking shows fewer total keywords. Additionally, I’m disappointed by the extra charge (around $0.004) for keyword grouping and auto-suggested keywords.

2.) SERP Analysis: A Powerful One Compared to Others

SERP Analysis is a feature that takes your keyword research to the next level.

Well, if you want to conduct a detailed analysis of competitors ranking on the SERP for your keywords, then this tool could be quite useful for you.

From here you can get a couple of useful metrics for your competitors including:

• Total Traffic: Your competitor’s pages are receiving
• Keywords Total: Number of keywords your competitor is ranking for
• DT: Domain Trust (Similar to DA)
• PT: Page Trust (Similar to PA)
• Backlinks: Number of backlinks a Page has ranking in SERP
• Referring Domains

But this is just basic.

SE Ranking has gone beyond basic and I pretty liked how they advanced their SERP Analysis feature by expanding it via a unique “Organic SERP History” feature.

Well, it’s a simple feature but it provides valuable information for the SEO strategy.

This tool shows you the SERP history for your keywords. It means you can track the history of SERP positions for a selected keyword on a monthly basis.

With Google’s frequent algorithm updates, SERP fluctuations are high. I usually use SERP history to find out which competitors’ rankings have improved in the last few months compared to my targeted keywords.

Then I analyze my competitors deeply and try to implement the same strategies on my website to improve its rankings.

This is a unique feature of SE Ranking. Usually, SEO tools just have the basic SERP analysis feature and not the SERP history feature. 

I haven’t seen it anywhere so far.

3.) SE Ranking Competitor Analysis is Detailed But Should Have an “Export” Option

Competitor research is one of the primary reasons we subscribe to SEO tools. So it has to be good.

The SE Ranking competitor analysis is good.

Why?

It shows pretty much all the information you need to uncover from your competitors.

Plus Points:

1.) Unlike other tools that show you your competitors’ data over an average duration (let’s say 1 year), SE Ranking also provides you with the option to access historical data.

2.) Their quick “Competitive Research Overview report” is clean and easy to understand. They have plenty of information organized into various tabs:

• Traffic Distribution Tab: Shows all country’s traffic data
• The Graph window: Shows traffic, keyword, and backlinks data in a “flow graph” which helps to easily analyze the growth
• Distribution of organic keyword ranking: Tab which shows keywords ranked in various position slabs
• Organic keywords: Tabs show improved, decreased, and total number of keywords your competitor ranks for
• Organic Competitors: Shows your top competitors
• Top Pages of your competitors
• Report of top paid keywords, paid competitors available as well
• More

The great thing about this quick overview report, it allows users to expand most of the mini tabs to see a bigger picture.

4.) If you want to look at the competitor overview report in a detailed manner, then you have a separate “Organic Traffic Research” & “Paid Traffic Research” tab.

Minus Points:

5.) Their overview report doesn’t include the “number of top recent backlinks”. However, you can always check a competitor’s backlink profile in detail using a separate backlink analysis tool available in SE Ranking.

6.) While they provide a detailed competitor overview report, they have overlooked including an “export to PDF” option. They missed adding an “export to PDF” option. Adding this feature would make it easier to share this helpful report with others.

7.) I have some doubts about the amount of data SE Ranking is able to fetch from the competitor profile, as they have overall less keyword and links database. But I am still satisfied.

8.) They also offer a “Competitor Comparison (Keyword Gap)” tool that lets you compare metrics for three competitors simultaneously. I believe having the option to compare five competitors at once would provide an even greater advantage.

4.) SE Ranking “Advanced Rank Tracking” Offer Daily Tracking in a Cheaper Pricing Possible

Rating: 4.9/5

Rank Tracking is my primary reason why I switched to SE Ranking.

Not just because of the fair plans, but because they also allow me to track my competitor keywords as well and that is all on a daily basis.

Yes, I mentioned “daily basis”. Did you know costly SEO tools like Ahrefs only allow you to track keywords on a weekly & monthly basis?

So, SE Ranking is offering you not only cost-friendliness but also more keywords with daily tracking. Nothing could be better than this in an SEO tool.

Among all the core features, Rank Tracking impressed me the most in SE Ranking.

1.) SE Ranking has a “Summary” tab that provides you with a quick overview of your and your competitor’s keyword rank tracking information:

• Search Visibility: The percentage of impressions your tracked keywords are getting
• Average Position: The average of all keywords
• Distribution of Top Positions among all keywords
• Percentage of Jumped, Dropped, and Unchanged keywords
• Percentage of Top, Jumped, and Dropped pages
• Visibility percentage of competitors
• More

2.) You have the option to track the positions of your keywords in one or more countries. Just remember that everything should be within your keyword quota.

3.) Although SE Ranking updates rank tracking data daily, if you want to see the most recent ranking data, you can manually refresh it for up to 200 keywords.

4.) Another unique capability of SE Ranking is that it can allow you to compare rank tracking data between multiple dates. 

And you can process 1-year data as well.

These lengthy reports are useful when you need to provide proof of a client’s ranking growth from the previous year in your portfolio.

I personally use them to review each year and assess how my website rankings have changed compared to the previous year.

This feature of comparing reports is not available in most of the other SEO tools including Ahrefs, Mangools, Serpstat, and more.

5.) In the detailed Rank Tracking report, you can visually track how your keywords have been ranking over time with the help of a well-presented flowchart:

Everything looks clean. You can easily extract keywords that are dropped, improved, or remain unchanged with the filter options.

8.) Accessing the competitors ranking for the same keywords we have predefined also looks easy to me.

All you have to add competitors once, and then SE Ranking will track their ranking as well.

Minus Points:

9. They’ve put Rank Tracking info into different tabs. At first, remembering where to find specific rank tracking data might be a bit tough if you’re not used to it.

I found the “Detailed” tab is the best among all and you’ll probably hang around here whenever you need to access rank tracking information.

5.) SE Ranking Backlinks System

Rating: 4.4/5

The SE Ranking Backlinks system is good. I got tools for monitoring my site backlinks as well as competitors separately. And I also got the powerful “Backlink Gap” tool you will rarely see in SEO tools.

So how was my experience with the SE Ranking Backlink system?

Plus Points:

1.) The “overview backlink report” of a competitor is a quick start to see how things are going on at your competitor’s end.

This report on SE Ranking is short, but offers valuable insights such as:

• Total referring domains
• Total backlinks
• The backlink toxicity level
• Domain trust
• Links to homepage/internal pages
• New & lost backlinks
• Top backlink anchors
• More

2.) I find identifying backlink opportunities from competitors profiles to be the best link building strategy.

With SE Ranking, it’s very easy to find out which backlinks or referrals your competitor has recently lost.

3.) Finding lost backlinks of competitors is one thing, But SE Ranking also has an inbuilt “broken link” filter which makes your further task easy.

4.) The main “Backlinks” tab which lists out the complete profile of the competitor has provided a lot of important metrics: Toxicity score, DT, PT, Dofollow/nofollow, backlink type, etc.

5.) I usually experiment with different types of anchors when building links. Finding what anchors competitors used gave me a rough idea.

6.) The “Pages” tab helps me in finding the most backlink-winning page of a competitor easily. With this info, I tried to make a similar page on my site and try to grab backlinks opportunities.

7.) Offering a Backlink Gap tool, SE Ranking becomes an advanced SEO tool for sure. Now I can compare my domain with up to 5 domains and find the gap (link opportunities) easily.

8.) They also have a “Backlink Monitor” tool in which you can add any backlink to either your site or competitors.

Then this tool will constantly monitor it and update its status (found/not found), Google indexing status, and other metrics.

Well, I personally use it to monitor my backlinks and also keep an eye on my competitors’ high-quality backlinks. Whenever one of their backlinks breaks, this tool notifies me, and then I can try to acquire that backlink for my own site.

Minus Points:

1. Despite having a powerful Backlink checker tool, the SE Ranking links database is still less than other backlink analysis tools. But it is constantly growing.

2. Some important metrics like Backlinks types, Link attributes, and Top pages are missing in the Backlink overview report.

3. Tools related to Backlink outreach are unavailable, However, it’s not a big deal because most of the users manage the link outreach part manually through their email.

6.) The SE Ranking Site Audit is Complex Yet Useful

Rating: 4.6/5

Most of the primary site audits are done via Google search console. 

But still, if you want to go deep in SE Ranking, a detailed Off Page SEO audit and On-Page SEO audit could help you a lot.

There are hundreds of metrics you can audit with their site audit tool.

I personally use it to audit:

• Total Pages crawled
• Website security
• Pages blocked by robot.txt
• Canonical issues
• URL blocked by no index
• Duplicate content
• HTTP Status code
• Broken Internal/External Links
• Images with alt text missing

Before switching to SE Ranking, I tried the free version and was immediately impressed by its user-friendly interface.

Unlike tools like Semrush or Ahrefs, which can have complex interfaces, SE Ranking is straightforward and easy to navigate.

Upon logging in, all core features are readily accessible from the left sidebar without any hassle.

And they provide summaries of all core features for easy understanding.

But there’s one thing I didn’t like: they haven’t organized some tools properly. For example, the Backlinks monitor tool should be under the “Backlinks” tab, but you find it in “All Projects.”

Anyway, once you become familiar with the interface, finding where each tool is located won’t be a problem.
